The Peach Tree 23 Yard Sale turns 44 miles of South Carolina Highway 23 into a single-day shopping event every first Saturday of June. The route winds through five counties in the rural Midlands — from Batesburg-Leesville in the west through Ridge Spring, Ward, Monetta, Johnston, and Edgefield, ending at Modoc in the east.
It's a genuine small-town southern sale. The communities along SC-23 are agricultural towns that don't see heavy foot traffic most of the year, so the sales tend to be uncurated and under-priced — estate cleanouts, farm surplus, family collections that haven't been picked over. One day, 44 miles, and the route is tight enough that you can cover it all before lunch if you start early.
Ridge Spring is the hub of the event and hosts the largest cluster of vendors. Peach orchards line the highway in season, making the drive itself worthwhile.
